Hello from Wisconsin!
First off, I'm so glad I found this site through the WDW for Grownups website!
DH and I stayed at the AKL in December '07 and fell in love with the resort! We were originally planning to stay there again for a Fall 2010 trip, but most recently have been considering going back this Fall. With all of the different discounts Disney & Disney Rewards has been offering it just may be doable for us this year!
I'm looking forward to exploring more of this site!
Hi! Any news on going back this fall? Have you ever experienced the Food&Wine Festival at Epcot or Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party?
Free Dining is a great deal...
Going back this fall is still up in the air, we're waiting for any specials to come out that include Oct./Nov. When/if we go it will have to be the last week of Oct. going into Nov.
And yes, we have experienced the F & WF, twice! The first was Oct. 2004 (which we also attended MNSSHP), and most recently Oct. 2008 with my BFF & her DH. We really enjoy the F & WF, what better time of year to have such a great event at EPCOT! Once is enough for the Halloween Party, especially since we're child-free.
We would love to get in on the free dining, unfortunately the promotion for that does not typically go through the month of October. However, we're hoping they may extend it later this year because of the economy.
I think they extended free dining last year for Visa cardmembers (as least slightly); maybe that's possible. Either way, I really enjoy going in the end of October--you're not dealing with quite as much humidity, but you still get to enjoy the food and wine fest. That really is one of my favorite events at Disney.
Fun that you went with BFF and hubby. If you find a couple you enjoy traveling with, that can be so rewarding.
