We will be there June 1-8. We got ADR's for Tony's Town Square, Chef Mickey's (dinner), Tokyo Dining (sushi while watching Illuminations!), Boma for breakfast and dinner and Jiko!
I tried to get the Fantasmic! Dinner package at Hollywood and Vine, but it's not showing the days we plan to be at DHS.
I'm so happy about Jiko! It will be 2 TS credits, but what the heck! The ADR person was excited for us too! He recommended the prime rib ("melt in your mouth") and the Atlantic salmon from Boma and the pumpkin soup at Jiko. I can't wait!
Sounds like so much fun! I can highly recommend Jiko's filet mignon with macaroni and cheese (weird, I know, but it's great!). Also please do try that house-made lemon curd for dessert--it's the perfect ending to your meal.
The rest of your ADRs sound awesome! Yay for Tokyo Dining while watching Illuminations!

Greetings all.
I am looking forward to staying @ AKL. This is my first year as a DVC Member, AKL = HOME ;)
Arrive June 4 - 8
In the past I have stayed at Beach/ Yacht Club < Favorite Deluxe resorts.> followed close by Wilderness L, Loved staying in the " EP-i-Centre" of WDW. Close to some amazing restaurants. I had some initial reservations about buying into DVC @ AKL way out west. A cast member friend invited me to stay one or two nights Boardwalk, Beach Club villas and most recently Saratoga Springs. Sorry to say, I think SSprings is way to Big a resort. I did not like that fact every building at first glance looks the same and every thing was so spread out.
Last June I took a ride over to AKL "WoW, is that the reaction everyone else had when seeing this amazing resort? I can tell you they really did their home work, So many details are so authentic, that most people will never notice. for example the Iron Fire pit in the lobby is named "Ogun's Fire Pit " named for the West African god of Iron, who was a Blacksmith.
I decided to stay in the Jambo house this June, since as a solo adult I figured the hotel amenities like the Victoria Falls Bar would be friendly.
If anyone will there in Jun 4-8 just look for the tall Masai looking gentleman with dredlocs and say a Friendly ' JAMBO' < Hello>
AnimalKing/ Gilbert
Hi Gilbert! Congratulations on your new "home!" WOW is definitely the reaction we've always had--every time we walk into that resort! Will you be staying at Kidani or Jambo House in June?
Also, thanks for the info on Ogun's fire pit! I thought it was the fire pit outside, so it's good info to know that it's actually the one inside!

Hi, we're visiting on July 20th this year (only 1 week!) and we're so excitied. We already have 2 ADRs at Boma and lots of others in the different parks. We are staying in a standard room, does anyone know how much it might be to have an upgrade? We are celebrating this holiday for many reasons - it being our first disney holiday being only one!
Would it be worthwhile to upgrade when we check in? Ive heard that all the rooms are fabulous, i think all my partner really wants is a fridge!
Thanks
Nikki

Just want to say, My family loved Kidani Village! Our DVC home is Kidani. I have been going to Disney since I have been a lil girl and now my children are 24 and 20. So this was so exciting to know I have a home in Disney! We were there in May. Kidani Village is nice if you like the small and quieter resort. And if you are in the mood for the excitement of the hustle and bustle of a bigger resort you can take a bus over to Jambo House, but depends where your room is. We were able to walk over. Bus service, I thinkk is just the same anywhere. I mean the Magic Kingdom is the farthest so you have to except a wait. Of course, we were lucky we would walk up to the bus stop and actually we would just be getting there and our bus would be waiting for us. Of course, this was in May not the busy time for Disney. Can't wait to go back MAY 2011!!

Hi Dan! Definitely do a tour of the resort! You can also tour the two sit-down restaurants in Jambo House, Boma and Jiko, at 4:00pm each day. The tour is free and you get to taste-test some of the great food!
Congrats on your marriage and your impending DVC purchase!

Thanks! Depending on the location of your room, but even that maybe a 10 to 15 minute walk. Our room was the last blding closest to Jambo house so it was quick. Its actually a sidewalk to Jambo House, it takes you to the lobby.
Hi Everyone! Been planning our first-time family trip to WDW/AKL since January for June trip. Waking up at 6:45am for ADRs!
Yee-haw! Where are your ADRs? Hopefully you got one at Boma (breakfast or dinner--they're both great!)
And when in June will you be there?

Okay I just read my post and realized I was rather loose with the exclamation points. But that is exactly how I feel about the trip coming up!!!!!!

Hey Nikki! According to this year's rates list, a standard room during your dates is $240, a pool view room is $245, and a savanna view room is $305.
In my opinion, you might want to try to upgrade to a pool view room--for only $5 per day difference, it's MUCH better than looking at the parking lot!
