Red Lechwe Arrive on Pembe Savanna at Disney’s Kidani Village

Red Lechwe

Disney’s Kidani Village has welcomed a new group of animals to the Pembe Savanna.

The red lechwe is a subspecies named for the reddish-brown color of their coat.

The animals are “distinguished by their long bodies and hindquarters that are higher than their shoulders” according to Disney.

They eat grass and aquatic vegetation and their long, narrow hooves help them adapt to living in marshy areas.

At Kidani Village they’re sharing the savanna with the red river hogs.

Make sure to check out the Pembe Savanna the next time you’re visiting Kidani Village and get a glimpse of the newest residents.
